Mai Levin’s monograph "Nikolai Kormashov – the Painter" summarizes the artist’s exceptionally rich creative journey. The fifties that were filled with joy of painting but received less coverage, the sixties which produced many classics, the sovereign painting of the seventies, the restlessness of the eighties and the undisturbed concentration in the last decades of his life. The monograph also describes Nikolai Kormashov’s activities as a collector, restorer and researcher of icon paintings and its connection to his creative work, starting from the late 1960s. In addition to describing the artistic values of his work, the author of the book also highlights the humanistic worldview that characterized Kormashov’s work as a whole throughout the changing times.
