Описание
The publication is comprised of two topical parts, “Narratives of everyday life” and “Social links”, also including a debuting in the Eighteenth-Century Studies column of “Annotations”, presenting the most recent monographs in the research on the eighteenth-century state of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and its society. “Narratives of everyday life” consists of ten articles that are then divided into three topical chapters: “Life of monasteries”, “Nobility’s space” and “Soldier’s daily life”. First chapter discusses different aspects of activities and everyday life of three monasteries: the Jesuit, the Missionary and the Piarist. In the study by Italian scientist Andrea Mariani for the first time in historiography are questions analysed in regards to the material culture and economics of a monastery of the Jesuit society. On the basis of research into the material environment of monks abiding in the eighteenth-century colleges of Niasvizh and Slutsk, the author demonstrates how much were the Jesuits carriers of the specific material culture in the general context of the privileged classes of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and how much was their world of things reflective of the general material culture of the nobility.
