The monograph is devoted to the problems of Polish-Russian language contacts and the role the written language of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania played in this process. The research puts the material that might appear to be of topical relevance to the study of the history of the Russian literary language into scientific circulation: lexical Polonisms identified in the diplomatic correspondence of the Moscovite state of the end of the 16th – the first part of the 17th century. The published data demonstrate the role of the Chancery language and the significance of the factor of interslavonic language contacts in the formation of the Russian literary language of a new type as well as the contribution of the Polish language to the expansion of the lexis of the Russian written language in the 16th–17th centuries. The book is intended for the researchers dealing with the history of the Russian liter­ary language, historical lexicology and lexicography of Eastern Slavonic languages and inter-Slavonic language contacts, it can also be used as supplementary teaching material for the course in the history of the Russian literary language for students of philology.
